as already mentioned, most rangers will use Druids. I do too.

However, as a R/Me, when I wish to solo, I take Greater Conflagration (spirit: all phys dmg is converted to fire dmg) and Elemental Resistance (+ x to ele res, - x to phys res) which works well, as there is NO phys dmg coming in at you, so the penalty to the physical armour doesn't matter.

With druids this works great, but for when I do solo instead of normal play, I'm planning on getting some drakescale armour (+ vs fire) so that any physical damage I convert to fire will do even less, and all the other types of damage will still be negated almost as much by ele resist.

I'd suggest playing around with it. Buy some cheap sets of each, see what works best for you, then choose one (or all) you prefer

buying all can get pricey, if you do that stick with all droks 1.5k because the granite citadel and grotto can go between 60k-100k depending on how much you have to pay for supplies.

If you buy 1 of each with; start the droks drakes skale (fire), due to it being the most versitile (and it looks pretty good), the grotto draks scale looks really ugly with this huge "thing" growing out of the shoulder and the druid +8 energy is only looks good on female rangers (can we say bikini). The droks fur armor (cold) and studded leather (lightning) look almost identical to the citadel.

I can't say anything about elemental stuff.

I recently bought a set of Pyro's Citidel armor, and I agree. Buy armor based on looks if there's no major advantage (for Ele at least).

Rangers can change damage type, so there can be a more prominenet advantage based on armor.

I usually go for water armour increases, because Ice Spear can hurt alot if it's getting spammed on you by one guy, and a fair few Necro skills do cold damage.
